It is already too late to pre-order tickets to this weekend's Escape the Room NYC game taking place in the 35,000-square-foot Moynihan Station in Midtown Manhattan -- the event sold out within 24 hours. For those still hoping to go, walk-in spots will be available day-of.
Escape the Room is a live-action collaborative gaming experience, where players find themselves locked inside a room and must find clues and solve puzzles in order to escape. This weekend's event (beginning Thursday, June 22 and running through Sunday the 26th) is unique as the first drivable version of the game.
Someone very clever with Ford Motor Company decided to take advantage of the overlapping name of the brand's preeminent crossover SUV, the Ford Escape.
"We're constantly looking for new ways to connect with consumers," said Ginger Kasanic, Ford experiential marketing manager. "Teaming up with Escape the Room allowed us to create a unique and unexpected experience to introduce our new Ford Escape and our technologies."
For Ford, the team-up means thousands of puzzle enthusiasts will be getting an immersive test drive like no other, and for Escape the Room NYC owner Victor Blake, "the end result is unlike anything I've created before. It was an entertaining exercise to integrate things like ultrasonic parking sensors into the puzzles and clues that are iconic to the game."
