The Ford Motor Company has a long history of providing support for to the Salvation Army. That support continued yesterday, as the automaker announced it will donate a customized Ford Transit van to the Southeast Michigan Salvation army. The van will serve the relief efforts of The Salvation Army Eastern Michigan Division Emergency Disaster Services’ canteen fleet.
The Transit's sleek design is ideal for the tight situations that response personnel often encounter in disaster scenarios. Its tall roof allows for a person to stand upright, and it's numerous custom installed appliances support food services efforts and more. The disaster response volunteer team assists local authorities in emergency situations by providing food, beverages, blankets, clothing, temporary shelter, communications support, emergency lighting, and clean-up kits.
“Assisting with disaster relief is an important part of our mission to serve the communities where we live and work,” said Janet Lawson, director, Ford Motor Company Fund, the philanthropic arm of Ford. “The flexibility of the Ford Transit van makes it a great fit for The Salvation Army’s emergency response fleet.”
